'noise (e.g. hum), noise (e.g. bang), silence'

20/02/2014
Scissor #1: An evening of durational and time-based art curated by Kovács/O’Doherty

Séamus O’Donnell aka Li/kNiFeLoOp:
Since 1999, Séamus O’Donnell has been working as an artist and organiser on different audio art projects. He makes solo or collaborative works (for performance or installations) which can include FM radio experiments with receivers and self built mini-transmitters; reel-to-reel tape machine loop or relay set ups; and a live set which can contain any mix of manipulated field recordings, self made devices, amplified objects and magnetic fields as well as other more traditional instruments and voice.

He is the co-initiator of the Salon Bruit series of experimental music concerts in Berlin, which has regularly organised events since 2002, and over the years has been involved in many different temporary radio projects (such as PiRadio, RebootFM, Radio Tesla, Funkwelle and currently 88vier). Other current collaborations include noisiV, Krauchen and a couple of A/V projects with H3XL3R.

For this event, he will be presenting 'noise (e.g. hum), noise (e.g. bang), silence', a six-channel installation that contains field recordings (some pure, some manipulated) from Berlin, Buenos Aires, Prague, Spain and Ireland. They are combined to form a new kind of audio journey that is essentially in the listener's own head, only being helped along by the sounds that are heard.

Originally presented in a small darkened room as a part of the Terminal08/Salon Bruit exhibition titled "Hałas, Szum, Cisza", Gorzow, Poland 30.03.12 – 20.04.12
